Differentiated
Capabilites
Drug Repositioning
Even though oral drug delivery is the preferred
method of administration, many therapeutics continue
to be administered parentally, usually due to
poor bioavailability. Encap’s proprietary
encapsulation technologies can, in some cases,
address this issue and provide a valuable product
life-cycle extension for such medications.
High Potency Compounds
Certain therapies are associated with highly potent
compounds. This potency is important for the patient
but poses a potential hazard to the individuals
exposed to the product during the manufacturing
process. The concepts for liquid-fill in suppressing
dust and in minimising sources of cross-contamination
make the technology and Encap’s facilities
highly suited to the safe and effective cGMP manufacture
of such products.
Over-encapsulation
Over-encapsulation is a common process is ‘blinding’
exercise to support clinical trials. Encap can
provide bench-scale facilities which assure full
product control.
Gelatin and HPMC capsule
manufacture
In addition to development and manufacture of
products using standard gelatin capsules, Encap
has capsule filling expertise and capacity for
all types of hard shell capsules including hydroxypropylmethylcelliulose
(HPMC) products. Although these products have
significantly different technical requirements,
Encap has a proven capability to manufacture at
commercial scale.
Capsule coating
Facilities are available at both bench and manufacturing
scale for capsule coating, aimed at enteric or
other controlled-release profiles. The systems
are suited to both gelatin and HPMC products.
Liquid Fill Technology
Encap’s Liquid fill technology has been
successfully used to benefit customers and offers
significant advantages in key areas of production,
drug delivery and cost.

Encapsulation of liquid or semi-solid formulations
allows customers to quickly generate essential
information upon which to make informed decisions
as to the future potential of any new drug/formulation.
With a dedicated project manager, all projects
are planned, progressed and performed in close
consultation with our customers. Encap has a proven
ability to quickly respond to the rapidly changing
environment which is often found in early stage
development.
